  • Past Events

    Common Vision, Common Action last brought the community together in April and May of 2020, for a series of virtual town halls. Our goal was to create the Moving Foward, Not Backwards Action Plan for our Regional Vision for collective action necessary to sustain Caring, Low-Carbon Communities in the recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The first Common Vision, Common Action conference took place October 13-15, 2017 at the University of Victoria in Lekwungen / W̱SÁNEĆ Territory.

    Together, we gathered with social and environmental organizations, activists, elected officials and community members to develop a regional policy platform for the Capital Region.

    Highlights included:

    • A Keynote Address by W̱SÁNEĆ activist Paul Cheoketen Wagner;
    • Plenary discussions on Housing, Transportation, Governance, Food Systems and Education;
    • A social event featuring spoken word, live music and fun times;
    • Policy Sessions on Inclusive Communities, Climate Action, People-Oriented Economics and Arts & Culture.

    Harnessing the ideas and passion of participants and organizations at the conference, we launched the Common Vision, Common Action Solutions Statement in 2018, informing policy debates during the municipal elections that year and after.
